Orion Expedition Cruises Sarina Bratton, Managing Director of OEC has been in the cruise business since 1979 having worked with Holland America Line, Cunard Line (Vice President Asia Pacific), Founder and Managing Director of Norwegian Capricorn Line. Bratton pioneered the environmentally sensitive Great Barrier Reef itineraries for Crown Monarch and Norwegian Star, introducing improved environmental management controls whilst the ships were in this region. Bratton is the former Deputy Chair of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority who is the body responsible for Australia's Environmental Management Plan and Disaster Recovery.

Whatever image the word 'cruise' evokes for you, we invite you to put it aside as it is unlikely to do justice to the Orion experience. We promise you something unique, not merely a cruise but an expedition, a voyage to places where you will feel more of an explorer than a tourist. Sail with us and you will discover the hidden treasures of Australasia: on voyages from 7 to 20 nights, you can experience the enchantment and staggering beauty of places like Arnhem Land and Antarctica and cultures as diverse as those found in the Tiwi Islands and East Timor. Orion is a new vessel, custom built for voyages of exploration, and considerably smaller than conventional cruise ships. She is small enough to allow us to explore ports inaccessible to others (of our 70 ports of call only 10 are accessible to large ships) yet big enough to offer world-class facilities. Accommodating no more than 106 guests, she is more like a private mega-yacht than a typical cruise ship. That is also reflected in the onboard ambience, for not only do we go to out of the way places, we go out of our way to give you an exclusive, five-star experience. As with most decisions in life, you can tread the well-trodden path or carve a new one. We have chosen the latter...and we would be delighted to have you join us on a voyage to some of the most wonderful but rarely seen places on earth.

Pelagic Expeditions Pelagic Expeditions LTD markets and manages the original 54 foot Pelagic built in 1987 and the more recent 74 foot Pelagic Australis. Both boats are heavy duty lifting keel and rudder designs that offer comfortable accommodation for either tourists as well as providing logistic support for mountaineers, skiers, divers and documentary film makers.

After two seasons on private expeditions in the far south, Skip Novak decided to begin chartering Pelagic in 1990 and was one of a handful of the pioneers of the area who began to operate small sailing vessels commercially. Still very much in service, the original Pelagic only runs whole boat charters and caters mainly to mountaineers and other set groups. She can take up to 6 guests and sails with two professional crew.

In 2003, Pelagic Australis, was launched as the only purpose built expedition sailing vessel that currently exists in the south. Bigger volume, faster (she motors at 9.5 and can sail at 11 to 12 knots) and fully internet capable, she is built from aluminium. Certified by DNV in Norway (Det Norske Veritas), she also carries a RCD (Recreational Craft Directive) certificate - CE marking and a UK MCA (Marine Coastguard Agency) certificate for carrying up to 12 commercial passengers. She is British flagged and obtains her Antarctic Permit form the Antarctic division of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Generally, she sails with eight exclusive tourist guests or up to ten expedition members with three professional crew.

Pelagic Expeditions has a fully operational on shore office managed by Skip Novak and an assistant so communications and contractual arrangements with clients are efficient.

Cruising and expedition venues include the Antarctic Peninsula, the island of South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn, and also the coasts of Argentina and Chile. Pelagic Australis also has two seasons experience in the far north having visited Spitsbergen, Greenland and Arctic Canada, and is available with long term planning for northern voyages on a custom, full season basis. Princess Cruises One of the best-known names in North American cruising, Princess Cruises is a global cruise and tour company. Part of Carnival Corporation and plc (NYSE: CCL and CUK), its current fleet of 11 ships sail on approximately 150 different itineraries around the globe, calling at more than 260 ports on all seven continents. Four additional ships will be introduced by 2006, giving Princess one of the most modern fleets in the industry. The line began in 1965 with a single ship cruising to Mexico and has grown to become one of the premiere cruise lines in the world. Today, its fleet carries more than 800,000 passengers each year to more worldwide destinations than any other major line. The cruise line was catapulted to stardom in 1977 when its ships were cast in a starring role on a new television show called The Love Boat. The weekly series was an instant hit and both the company name and its "seawitch" logo have remained synonymous with cruising ever since.

Today, the line is particularly noted for its emphasis on Personal Choice Cruising, enabling passengers to enjoy a wide range of facilities, amenities and services, but maintaining a sense of "big ship choice with small ship feel." Princess passengers particularly enjoy an abundance of staterooms with private balconies and the line's own Personal Choice Dining, offering a choice between traditional and restaurant-style dining options. Additional information on Princess' worldwide itineraries is available through a professional travel agent, by calling 1-800 PRINCESS, or by visiting the company's website.
