Celebrity Cruise Lines/Royal Carribbean/Azamara Cruises is the new, deluxe cruise experience for discerning travelers who long to reach out-of-the-ordinary destinations and indulge in amenities and service unparalleled on the high seas.
The unique offerings of Azamara are beyond compare: butler service is provided in every stateroom; our shore excursions (we prefer to call them shore immersions), are designed to let guests become part of the fabric of life in each destination, instead of merely being an observer; our enrichment programs offer everything from culinary to photographic explorations; our two specialty restaurants provide the finest cuisine at sea; live entertainment can be enjoyed nightly; and the level of service offered is unmatched. Azamara Cruises consists of two intimate ships, Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest. Each can carry 710 fortunate guests and because they are smaller and sleeker than larger cruise ships, they can sail to ports that others simply cannot reach.

Sterna Corporation (New Hampshire, USA) owns and operates the 56-foot aluminum cutter SEAL, designed and built for severe offshore conditions and remote uncharted regions.

Prior to building SEAL (2004) Hamish Laird had 12 seasons’ experience operating sailboats in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean, and Kate Laird had made five voyages in the region. They have put that knowledge into every detail of SEAL. Thoroughly testing her in a year-long shake down, including a full summer in Greenland on the west and east coasts.

SEAL’S first Antarctic voyage is scheduled for February 2007. We are particularly interested in projects which involve research or education, but we have also made voyages to the Antarctic for expedition cruising, mountaineering, filmmakers and photographers.

SEAL is available for charter for groups of 4-6 guests in the Antarctic, Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn, South Georgia, Greenland, the Canadian Arctic, and Svalbard, as well as for ocean passages.

SEAL is designed to exceed ABS scantlings and outfitted to or above USCG and ABYC standards. Her keel and rudder “ kick up” in the event of an accidental groundings which is an important safety feature in the incompletely charted high latitude regions (both keel and rudder are locked in place for offshore work.) The heart of the boat is the heated raised saloon, with views all around, even while seated at the dining table. Heated cabins with libraries and computer desks offer privacy, and ample storage bays can handle large amounts of expedition or research equipment.
